ABOUT OUR CLASSES
Jam Street School of Dance

BALLET
Ballet is at the heart of strong dance training, and at Jam Street we teach it in a way that feels welcoming, encouraging and achievable for every young dancer. Our classes focus on building beautiful posture, strength, balance and control, while helping dancers understand the foundations that support every other style they learn. Using the barre, centre work and age‑appropriate technique, we guide dancers through the basics with clarity and confidence, always keeping the atmosphere positive and enjoyable. Whether your child dreams of graceful lines or simply wants to improve their technique for other styles, Ballet at Jam Street gives them the discipline, musicality and body awareness that helps them shine in every class.

TAP
Tap at Jam Street is all about rhythm, musicality and making noise with confidence. Our classes teach dancers how to create clear, crisp sounds using age‑appropriate technique, helping them develop timing, coordination and a strong sense of performance. We break down steps in a way that feels achievable and fun, building from simple patterns to more complex rhythms as dancers progress. Tap is brilliant for boosting confidence, sharpening musical awareness and giving dancers a real sense of achievement as they hear their skills improve week by week. Whether they’re brand new or already love the style, Tap at Jam Street is lively, upbeat and guaranteed to put a smile on their face.
JAZZ & TECHNIQUE
Jazz & Technique at Jam Street is all about sharp lines, strong foundations and confident performance. Our classes blend classic jazz style with focused technical training, helping dancers build strength, flexibility, kicks, turns and leaps in a way that feels both challenging and achievable. We break skills down clearly, develop them safely and progressively, and give dancers the time they need to master proper technique — not just copy steps. With upbeat choreography, dynamic combinations and plenty of room for personality, Jazz & Technique is perfect for dancers who want to improve their control, power and performance quality across every style they do.

HIP HOP / COMMERCIAL

Our Hip Hop and Commercial classes give dancers the chance to express themselves with confidence, style and real performance energy. For our younger dancers, Hip Hop is all about fun, rhythm and simple foundations — age‑appropriate grooves, footwork and attitude that build coordination and musicality in a lively, supportive setting.
For our older dancers, Commercial steps things up with sharper choreography, stronger technique and a focus on performance quality. Inspired by music‑video and stage styles, these classes help dancers develop power, precision and confidence as they learn to pick up routines quickly and move with real presence.
Together, these styles offer the perfect pathway from playful foundations to polished, expressive performance.

BOYS ONLY HIP HOP

Our Boys‑Only Hip Hop classes are fast‑paced, high‑energy and designed to help boys move with confidence and style. These sessions focus on strong foundations — grooves, footwork, musicality and attitude — taught in a way that feels fun, relaxed and totally pressure‑free. It’s a space where boys can train hard, burn energy, build coordination and learn real Hip Hop skills alongside others who love the same vibe. Perfect for beginners and natural movers alike, this class is all about confidence, rhythm and having a brilliant time while learning something new.
LYRICAL / CONTEMPORARY
Lyrical & Contemporary at Jam Street gives dancers the space to move with emotion, freedom and creativity. These classes blend technique with expressive storytelling, helping dancers connect movement to music in a way that feels natural and inspiring. We focus on flow, control, transitions, floorwork and musical interpretation, building strength and flexibility while encouraging dancers to explore their own style. It’s a beautiful, expressive class that helps young performers grow in confidence, artistry and emotional connection — perfect for dancers who love to feel the music and move with meaning.

It’s a joyful, welcoming class that builds coordination, social skills and a love of dance from the very beginning.

BABY BALLET

Baby Ballet at Jam Street is a magical first step into the world of dance. Our tiniest dancers learn simple ballet movements through imagination, music and play, helping them build balance, coordination and confidence in a calm, nurturing environment. We keep everything gentle and age‑appropriate — lots of smiles, storytelling, twirls and tiny steps that make them feel proud and excited to learn. It’s a beautiful introduction to movement, rhythm and social skills, giving little ones the perfect start to their dance journey.

TUMBLE TOOTS
Tumble Toots is our playful introduction to movement for little ones who love to climb, roll and explore. These classes blend simple acro skills with music, imagination and lots of energy, helping children build balance, coordination and body awareness in a safe, supportive space. It’s the perfect class for active pre‑schoolers who enjoy moving, tumbling and having a brilliant time.
DANCE & PLAY

Dance & Play opens up a world of music, movement and imagination for little ones. This hour‑long class helps children develop balance, coordination, social skills and confidence through songs, simple dance routines and creative play, all guided by our specialised early‑years staff.
The second half of the session is relaxed free‑play time, giving grown‑ups the chance to enjoy a tea or coffee and a catch‑up while children explore our equipment, burn off energy and enjoy juice and a snack. It’s a warm, welcoming class that supports emotional, cognitive and physical development — and gives little ones a joyful start to their dance journey.
ACRO

Our Acro programme at Jam Street is designed to help dancers build strength, flexibility, control and confidence as they progress safely through Levels 1–4. Each level introduces new skills at the right pace, focusing on proper technique, body awareness and safe progressions.
Level 1 builds the basics — core strength, balance, bridges, rolls and beginner limbering skills. Level 2 develops stronger foundations with walkovers, controlled balances and more challenging flexibility work. Level 3 introduces power skills such as aerial progressions, handsprings and more advanced transitions. Level 4 pushes confident acrobats further with higher‑level tumbling, partner work and complex combinations, always taught with safety and technique at the centre.
Across all levels, dancers are supported by qualified instructors who break skills down clearly, celebrate progress and help every child feel proud of what they can achieve.
MUSICAL THEATRE
Musical Theatre at Jam Street brings together singing, dancing and acting to give young performers the full stage experience. These classes are lively, expressive and confidence‑boosting, helping dancers learn how to tell a story, project their personality and work as part of an ensemble. We explore character, emotion, musicality and performance skills through fun routines, drama exercises and age‑appropriate vocals, all in a supportive environment where every child can shine. It’s the perfect class for dancers who love to perform, express themselves and step into the spotlight with confidence.
CHEER

Our Non‑Competitive Cheer classes are all about teamwork, energy and confidence — without the pressure of competing. Dancers learn age‑appropriate cheer skills including motions, jumps, basic stunts and fun pom routines, all taught in a safe, supportive environment. We focus on strength, coordination and timing while keeping the atmosphere upbeat and encouraging, giving every dancer the chance to shine. It’s the perfect class for those who love high‑energy movement, working together and celebrating progress as a team.
MINI MOVERS

Mini Movers is the perfect first step into dance for little ones who love to wiggle, jump and explore. This fun, upbeat class introduces children to music, movement and simple dance skills through imagination, games and plenty of encouragement. We focus on building balance, coordination, confidence and social skills in a gentle, age‑appropriate way, making every child feel included and proud of what they can do. It’s a joyful, welcoming class that helps little dancers grow, make friends and enjoy moving their bodies.
AERIAL
Our Aerial programme is centred around Aerial Hoop, offering a safe, supportive way to build strength, confidence and creativity in the air. Silks are introduced occasionally for variety, but Hoop is our core focus.
Beginners learn the essentials — mounts, balances, shapes and simple sequences — while building core strength and confidence off the ground. Intermediate dancers progress to harder skills, dynamic transitions and more challenging combinations, developing control, fluidity and personal style. Adults enjoy a welcoming class suitable for all levels, blending conditioning, flexibility and hoop technique in a relaxed, encouraging environment.
Across all levels, safety, technique and enjoyment come first, helping every dancer feel capable and proud of their progress.
